During pandemics, all those involved in the research cycle should strive for respectful engagement with each other in the spirit of equitable and collaborative problem-solving.
The COVID-19 pandemic catalysed an extreme escalation of attacks on and harassment of scientists and others working in a research environment. This ranged from intimidation to belittling, sexual harassment, abuse of authority, malicious or suggestive comments, persistent, unjustified criticism or sabotage of performance, attacks on personal reputation or professional status to systematic exclusion andostracism. This article of the PREPARED Code is about respect.
